Molly Mulanax Therapy

Trauma Informed

I understand the complex effects of trauma on our daily lives and how trauma impacts our ability to cope. Within our sessions you will learn to establish a sense of safety, security and develop techniques to help you return to the present when your mind, body and spirit are being pulled to the past.

Attachment Based

I believe that our early attachments with primary care givers influence and shape our future relationships. Together, we will spend time getting to know how these formative experiences, narratives and dynamics impact your life and relationships today.

Expressive Arts Therapy

“Expressive art therapy integrates all of the arts in a safe, non-judgmental setting to facilitate personal growth and healing. To use the arts expressively means going into our inner realms to discover feelings and to express them through visual art, movement, sound, writing or drama. This process fosters release, self-understanding, insight and awakens creativity and transpersonal states of consciousness”

-Natalie Rogers

Expressive arts therapy goes beyond the dialogue in talk therapy by working creatively to express, experience, feel, identify and release emotions. Within our sessions we may use visual images, music, drawing, painting, oracle cards, collage, movement and writing to support you in expressing, exploring and reconnecting with your creative self.

Somatic Psychotherapy

“We have learned that trauma is not just an event that took place sometime in the past; it is also the imprint left by that experience on mind, brain, and body. This imprint has ongoing consequences for how the human organism manages to survive in the present. Trauma results in a fundamental reorganization of the way mind and brain manage perceptions. It changes not only how we think and what we think about, but also our very capacity to think.”
― Bessel A. van der Kolk,
The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma

Somatic psychotherapy is based on the idea that traumatic experiences cause dysfunction in our nervous system and prevent us from processing our experiences fully. Unresolved trauma can trigger real physical pain, symptoms of disease and can lead to a wide range of self destructive behaviors. Through the use of Somatic Therapy you will learn to befriend your nervous system, become more aware of your body and shift how you respond to painful experiences.

Internal Family Systems

IFS is a style of therapy that focuses on understanding your internal parts. We have all said it, “A part of me really wanted to, but another part felt weary.” IFS helps you get in touch with the parts of you that may be in conflict. Together we will get to know the different parts and help bring them into balance.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness meditation is a historic Buddhist practice that teaches one to observe their thoughts without judgement or reaction. Mindfulness is associated with a lessened reactivity to stress, improved ability to focus and a stronger connection to mind, body and spirit. Within our work together we will use mindfulness and meditation to support you in developing a nonjudgmental relationship to yourself and the world around you.
